Modern slavery Training

Background:

Modern slavery is a serious global issue affecting an estimated 46 million people, equivalent to around 0.5% of the world’s population. This disturbing crime encompasses various forms, including slavery, servitude, forced and compulsory labour, and human trafficking. The suffering endured by victims is deeply distressing and calls for our urgent attention.

Modern slavery often operates in the shadows of society, hidden from plain view. To address this grave challenge, we have developed the Modern Slavery Awareness training course. This course is tailored not only for first responders but also for professionals across various fields who may encounter trafficking victims in their roles. This includes educators, youth workers, police officers, nurses, local authorities, and many others. Moreover, it extends a warm welcome to anyone seeking a deeper understanding of human trafficking and modern slavery.

Our comprehensive training program equips delegates with the knowledge and skills to recognize the subtle signs of modern slavery. This knowledge is vital because modern slavery can take on numerous forms and manifestations. For instance:

  • Forced Labour: Individuals are coerced into working under exploitative conditions, often without pay, in sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing, or domestic service.
  • Sex Trafficking: Victims, frequently women and children, are forced into the commercial sex industry against their will, enduring violence and exploitation.
  • Child Labour: Children are compelled to work in dangerous and harmful conditions, robbing them of their childhood and education.
  • Debt Bondage: Individuals are trapped in a cycle of debt with no means of escape, often due to excessive and exploitative interest rates.
  • Forced Marriage: Individuals are coerced into marriage against their will, often experiencing severe physical and emotional abuse.
  • Organ Trafficking: The illegal trade in organs, involving the forced removal of organs from living or deceased individuals.

Our mission is to raise awareness and empower individuals to become active participants in the fight against modern slavery. By attending this training, delegates not only gain insights into the complexities of modern slavery but also become champions of change in the global effort to eradicate this heinous practice. Together, we can create a world where the chains of oppression are shattered, and the rights and dignity of all individuals are upheld. Join us in this critical endeavour to combat modern slavery and forge a brighter future for all.
