Vince Donovan, Director

The Trainer: Vince Donovan

Vince Donovan brings a wealth of experience and expertise to our Embracing Diversity and Inclusion Training. With a distinguished career spanning three decades as a police officer for South Wales Police, Vince’s commitment to community-focused roles and safety is truly commendable.

Throughout his impeccable career, Vince’s dedication shone brightly. In the year 2000, he assumed the pivotal responsibility of leading initiatives concerning asylum seekers and refugee community safety and integration. In this role, he represented the police in addressing community cohesion and providing support to those seeking political asylum in the UK. Remarkably, Vince continued this crucial work for over 14 years, culminating with his retirement from the police service in 2014.

Vince’s impact extended far beyond the police force. He collaborated extensively with various statutory organisations, including the health services, local authorities, and education institutions, as well as the third sector. One noteworthy achievement during this time was his collaboration with Susan Morris from ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) on the development of “Policesol,” an educational training program supported by the Welsh Assembly Government. This program involved ESOL teachers and Police Community Support Officers working together to bridge gaps between the police and emerging communities. It aimed to educate newcomers on essential topics such as child protection, driving in the UK, domestic violence, hate crime, and personal safety.

Vince continued his dedication to community safety by working directly with victims of hate crime. His commitment to preventing radicalisation and acts of terrorism was evident during his tenure as a Prevent Engagement Officer. This role involved providing support to individuals at risk of radicalisation, contributing to the safeguarding of our communities.

In recognition of his outstanding contributions, Vince was appointed as a board member of Race Equality First, a position he held for six years. This further exemplifies his dedication to promoting equality and inclusivity in our society.

With over 20 years of hands-on experience collaborating with organisations such as the Welsh Refugee Council and Clearsprings Ready Homes, Vince Donovan is undoubtedly an expert in his field. His profound knowledge and unwavering commitment to asylum integration and community cohesion make him an invaluable asset to our Embracing Diversity and Inclusion Training. His extensive background will undoubtedly enrich our training sessions, fostering a more inclusive and diverse workplace for all.
