Supplier information

Vatix describes itself as one connected platform for safety, compliance and risk, covering incident reporting, actions, audits, policy documents and dashboards. What Vatix states

Published features, as described by the supplier

Vatix describes the following on its website. Names and availability may vary by plan.

  • A lone worker app for iOS and Android with SOS activation, including discreet activation settings such as holding the side key or shaking the phone.
  • Timed working sessions with check-ins. Vatix says a missed check-in leads to automated check-in calls and escalation to its alarm receiving centre.
  • A privacy mode which, Vatix says, turns location sharing off outside working sessions.
  • GPS and Wi-Fi location.
  • Voice note status updates for responders.
  • The Safe Pro Device: a dedicated device with an SOS button, fall detection and audio calls to the alarm receiving centre. Vatix says the device uses a roaming SIM.
  • 24/7 monitoring, which Vatix says comes from two UK-based alarm receiving centres.
  • A management portal for alarm response instructions, alert tracking, audit trails and usage reports.

Before you procure

What to verify before procurement

Use these eight questions to compare any lone worker technology supplier.

  • Current product range, exact models and compatible accessories for the specific worker roles you need to cover.
  • Live pricing, minimum contract term and the total cost including any device, SIM, platform or support fees.
  • Monitoring centre accreditation, for example British Standard 8484 (BS 8484), and evidence it currently applies to the product being quoted, not just the supplier in general.
  • Stated response times and the exact escalation route to police or other emergency services, including any conditions that must be met.
  • Network and connectivity coverage for the actual buildings, sites and travel routes your staff work in.
  • How location, audio and incident data is retained, accessed and protected, and whether that meets your organisation's data protection obligations.
  • Onboarding and staff training support, and how practice activations or false alarms are handled without discouraging genuine use.
  • Contract flexibility: adding or removing users, ending the contract, and what happens to service and data if the product is discontinued.

Record each supplier's answers in the independent Word and PDF handout.

Safety Solutions implementation note

Technology still needs confident staff behaviour

Verify the selected product, contract, response instructions and staff training arrangements before implementation. No device, however well specified, replaces a member of staff who has practised using it, trusts it and knows exactly what happens after they press it.
